Back Pain Treatment Results Are Out… In 2 Weeks Of Treatment, We Reduced Pain In Our Patients By 83%!

Our back pain treatment results are out, and they conclusively show how beneficial our treatment is for chronic back pain patients. We were able to reduce the pain levels in our patients by 83% with an average treatment plan of 14 sessions or approximately 2 weeks only.

In a survey of the 89 back pain patients treated at YAPCHANKOR, we recorded the pain levels of patients at the beginning, mid points and end of their treatment. The pain levels were measured using a Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) from a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being no pain, and 10 being unbearable, excruciating pain. On average, our 89 patients reported an 83% improvement in their pain, with a beginning pain of around 6 to an end level of around 1. Impressively these results were achieved in only 14 sessions on average or 2 weeks of treatment, even for chronic cases that have lasted for months.

The 89 back pain patients break down further this way – 64 patients classified as chronic, 10 as sub-acute and 13 as acute cases. Conditions treated included mechanical lower back pain, slipped discs or prolapse intervebral discs, lumbar spondylosis, post-op fractures, sciatica, scoliosis, degenerative discs and osteoarthritis.

These results were collated by our physiotherapists in their patient histories and evaluation forms, where they obtain patient medical information and keep track of their progress during treatment. These results were not selectively sampled to show only good results, as they cover every back pain patient we had full records for during the period of investigation. These back pain treatment results were obtained from all our centres in operation – Ampang, Kota Damansara, Old Klang Road, Shah Alam and Subang Jaya. The senior physiotherapist responsible for grouping these results is Vaharli Hassan.

This second chart shows another aspect of the recovery in our back pain treatment results. There is a significant improvement in both range of motion and muscle strength recorded in our 89 patients. In the beginning, patients report limited range of motion that is about 50% of their normal movements. At the end of the treatment, this improvement is near 95%. Muscle strength is usually measured using resistance at several levels – gravity, own body weight, active resistance from the therapist. We produce results that are clearly significant – 63% improvements from beginning to end of treatment. This type of improvement only happens when the patients recover almost normal use of their backs.

Our goal in recording these results in a more scientific manner is in line with our mission to change how chronic pain is treated worldwide. We are on a quest to accumulate empirical evidence showing the efficacy of our treatment, in comparison to existing treatment methods in conventional and alternative medicine today, which are mostly able to effect a temporary relief to chronic pain problems. During the next few weeks, we will continue to post our treatment results for other areas of pain such as neck, shoulder, elbow, and ankle pain.
