Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can affect the joint itself or the surrounding muscles, tissues or ligaments. You will probably experience a reduction in the ability to move and use your arm. In some chronic conditions, you will feel a radiating pain and numbness down your arms. Shoulder pain can be caused by many factors, such as bursitis, frozen shoulder , osteoarthritis, rotator cuff injury, sprains or strains, tendinitis, dislocated shoulder joint or a torn cartilage.

At YAPCHANKOR, we have helped many sufferers seeking shoulder pain therapy in Malaysia to achieve real recovery without the use of steroid injections or painful manipulations. We have helped many different types of shoulder cases and know very well that pain in your shoulder can cause you to lose sleep, to feel distracted from the numbness, tingling or pain, to not even be able to put on your clothes yourself, to play sports or use your arm the way you normally used to. It may even affect your ability to earn a living. We also know that you may have tried other treatments that did not work and are feeling frustrated that the pain and stiffness has not gone away.

Step 1: Assess

During your first visit to us for your shoulder pain therapy, our certified physiotherapist will perform a physical exam, to check for pain and to measure your active and passive range of motion. We will also ask you to rate your pain on a scale of zero to 10 and discuss how well you’re functioning with your pain. We focus on real results for our patient, so we make a strong effort to measure your progress throughout our treatment, sometimes with photos and videos too.

If you have already seen a doctor or tried any other treatments, it will be helpful if you brought the report or any X-ray, MRIs or CT scans that you may have.

Step 2: Integrative Therapy

Our shoulder pain therapy is the best of both Eastern and Western sports medicine, combining physiotherapy modalities such as such as massage / muscle release techniques, heat, TENs (electrical stimulation), and ultrasound to relax your shoulder joint and the muscles and soft tissues around it, with our time tested and clinically-tested Chinese medicine patches. At your session, our physiotherapists will apply a variety of treatments and then they will prepare our custom made patches to wrap around your affected shoulder joint and muscles after the physiotherapy session. These patches are worn by the patient for at least 12 hours, and help with reducing pain and inflammation as well as improving blood circulation and healing rates.

Your shoulder also needs to improve in flexibility and strength, so our physiotherapist will teach you various exercises to improve these aspects. It is very important for you to regularly perform these exercises to maintain and improve the recovery you see from our treatment.

Step 3: Results

Shoulder pain can become chronic if left untreated. Our patients start to feel better within a few days of our treatment. Chronic shoulder pain sufferers usually start feeling results within 7-10 treatment sessions. How quickly you recover will depend on various factors, such as the severity and cause of your shoulder pain, how old or chronic the condition is, whether you are diligent with the exercises we recommend and how often you come back for treatment.

Michael is a US citizen living in Alaska who flew 7,200 miles to KL for our frozen shoulder treatment. He had tried the best treatments available in the US, including chiropractic treatment and other alternative therapies, but nothing worked. His previous recovery from frozen shoulder after our treatment convinced him it was better to fly back to Malaysia and to do our treatment for his other frozen shoulder, instead of wasting his time and money with treatments in the US.
